Galapagos Islands Tours

If you are interested in Galapagos Islands tours, then there are several options for you. The first one are Galapagos Islands cruises. offers cruises for either 4, 5, 6 or 8 days in our tour section, however, if you want to enjoy the amazing and unique scenery longer, it is always possible to request a longer tour.

Galapagos Cruises

Since Galapagos Islands tours are most likely once-in-a-lifetime experiences, it is important to do adequate research before heading on a random cruise. All cruises offer great itineraries, but there might be one that is the perfect one for you. Generally speaking, there are eastern and western itineraries. The western itinerary usually includes Isabela and Fernandina. These islands offer beautiful scenery as Isabela was once six different volcanic islands, and both offer great chances to spot some wildlife like marine iguanas, sea lions, Flightless Cormorants and sometimes even Galapagos Penguins. The best time to go to Galapagos if you want to see whales and dolphins close to Isabela is in July. Eastern itineraries can take you to Genovesa Island, which is a bird paradise, San Cristobal, the most inhabited island, Española Island, a perfect snorkeling or bird-watching destination, among many others. More information about these and other islands can be found on our Galapagos Information Page.

A Galapagos cruise doesn’t have to be expensive. There are yachts for every taste and budget, whether you prefer a luxurious suit or don’t mind sleeping in bunk beds. Most yachts are quite small and only offer space for 16 to 20 people, allowing for a very personal experience of your Galapagos Islands tour. An expert naturalist guide accompanies the cruise and will be there to explain the wildlife, ecosystem, and history of the Galapagos Islands and answer all your questions. All cruise programs include accommodation aboard and all the meals. If you are traveling alone and want to save the single supplement, you can buy a space in a shared double cabin.

Not sure how to get started? Check out our personal recommendations:

  • The San Jose Yacht is a great mid-range option which offers excellent value. The cabins are fairly large and common areas are comfortable. See our offers for 4-day and 8-day cruises.
  • The Nemo is a small sailing catamaran making for a unique and adventurous experience. Cabins are small but cozy and a lot of time is spent in the ample social areas. Find the details for your itinerary of choice.
  • The Odyssey is an affordable first-class option that offers a very comfortable cruise experience. Spacious cabins, beautiful social areas and a whirlpool make for a perfect 5-day or 6-day cruise.

Galapagos Island Hopping

The other option for your Galapagos Islands tours is the so-called Island Hopping. Here you do not sleep on a yacht, but in hotels on one or more of the four inhabited islands (Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, Isabela or Floreana). Generally speaking, a tour like that is a bit more economic than a yacht. Of course it depends on your preferred hotel category. Galapagos offers everything from backpacker hostels to luxurious resorts.

One of the advantages is that you can create your own itinerary. Usually you pick one or more of the inhabited islands as your base  and take day tours to visitors’ sites or other, smaller islands from there. On longer island hopping tours, you usually sleep a few days on one island and a few on another. Between islands you travel on small speed boats (beware if you tend to get sea sick: it can be a rough ride, especially between June and November). Travel by small aircraft is also available. Day tours to uninhabited islands are usually on more comfortable small yachts. If you want to see albatrosses or see the islands flowering in green as in no other month, december is the best time to go to Galapagos.

Our most popular island hopping tour combines Santa Cruz with San Cristobal. It also includes a visit to one of the small uninhabited islands. If beautiful beaches should be a part of your tour, be sure to include Isabela, for example in our 6-day tour. During an extensive 8-day island hopping tour you will stay on the three largest islands (Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, Isabela) and participate in many tours, maximizing your chances to observe the amazing wildlife. Of course we are happy to build your customized Galapagos tour, according to your interests and budget.

Galapagos Islands Tours – Last Minute Tours

If you’re spontaneous and flexible with your dates, you can take advantage of the yachts’ last minute offers. Usually places that haven’t been sold, will be offered for a special rate about 30 to 60 days before the departure date. March is by the way best time to go to Galapagos in terms of sunshine hours.
