From Manglaralto to Pacoche and surroundings

The last article was about my experiences in the rainforest region during my visit to Ecuador this year. Today I would like to report on my stay on the coast, where I also got to know some new things. As I do almost every year, I visited a couple of friends who live just outside Manglaralto. From there we made some excursions. My next destination was Pacoche and surroundings. I got to know coastal forest with its rich flora and fauna and visited some coastal villages.

Excursions within the rainforest region of Ecuador

During my trip to Ecuador this year, one of my longer excursions took me to the rainforest region.A few years ago in Puyo, I met Yaku, a guide who is a member of an indigenous community and lives with his family outside Puyo near Mirador Indichuris. I visit him regularly because there is a lot to discover and experience in the area and his father, who doesn’t call himself a shaman but is very knowledgeable about the healing benefits of various plants, always has a lot to tell.

Ecuador in a state of emergency?! My personal experience

In the beginning of January 2024 a state of emergency was declared in Ecuador. We want to give some background information and give a realistic view of the actual situation: traveling is possible with some precautions. Only in some areas there exists a curfew. The touristic infrastructure and services are funktioning as usual.
