OVERVIEW

During your 8-days Island Hopping Galapagos Tour you will visit the impressive Galapagos Islands during your Ecuador holiday and discover the variety of flora and fauna. This Galapagos vacation package includes getting to know the nature and wildlife of the Archipelago in day trips starting from Santa Cruz IslandIsla Isabela and San Cristobal. Enjoy the white sandy beaches of Isabela, Tortuga Bay and the highlands of Santa Cruz and famous Kicker Rock from San Cristobal. The nature and wildlife during this part of your Ecuador holiday consist of, for example, Galapagos penguins, sea lions, turtles, several bird species and possibly white-tip sharks and rays. To explore the Galapagos Islands, several activities like hiking, snorkeling and kayaking are scheduled for you.

One of the highlights of this Galapagos vacation package is the visit of the highlands of Santa Cruz. You should check out the twin craters of Los Gemelos, see giant Galapagos tortoises roaming in nature, and cross through ancient underground lava tunnels. These islands make Galapagos so special: animals that can only be found on these specific islands, endemic plant species, birds that get so close you can almost touch them, and sea lions sleeping in the sun.

Visiting Isabela during this Galapagos Island Hopping gives you the opportunity to look for the small Galapagos penguins on the rocks and snorkel in the bay, looking for sea lions, white-tip sharks, rays, sea turtles and reef fish. Take a moderately strenuous hike through lava formations that are other-worldly and visit a marine iguana colony and a sea lion colony nearby. With this Galapagos vacaction package you get for sure one of the best deals if you want to explore the Galapagos Islands.

In the morning, you fly to the “Enchanted Islands” and your guide will pick you up at the airport on Baltra Island. You will take the bus (approx. five minutes) to cross Baltra, take the ferry across the Itabaca Channel to Santa Cruz Island. You will visit the highlands of this island (please have your shoes and rain jacket ready). En route, you will stop at the Twin Crater. These two large pit craters along the road from Puerto Ayora to Baltra were caused by the collapse of empty magma chambers. A circular trail to the larger crater passes through the beautiful Scalesia forest, which is an excellent place to observe terrestrial birds, including Vermilion Flycatchers, Short-eared Owls, the Galapagos Dove, and several finch species. Afterwards you will visit one of the reserves, which are known as roaming grounds for the Galapagos Giant tortoises. They cross the reserve on their permanent migrations from the coast to the highlands, making it one of the very few places where is possible to see these enigmatic animals in their natural habitat. You will also have a chance to walk through lava tunnels before having lunch at the restaurant.
In the afternoon, you head to Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz’ principal town for the check-in at the hotel.
